Book Haul #27: Stack of Awesome

book haul 27

Hello, darlings! Long time no blog post. It was actually only a week but it seriously felt like several, especially since my posts this October have been few and far in between. Anyway, in the time that I’ve been pretty MIA, I’ve acquired some awesome books!

More Than This by Patrick Ness
Asylum by Madeleine Roux (Signed!)
The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan
Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer (Signed!)
The Summoning by Hillary Monahan
Pointe by Brandy Colbert
The Jewel by Amy Ewing
Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas

Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Not In The Script by Amy Finnegan
Wildflower by Alecia Whitaker
Anatomy Of A Misfit by Andrea Portes
Isla And The Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins (Signed!)
A Thousand Pieces Of You by Claudia Gray (Signed!)
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
Zac and Mia by A.J. Betts
I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

A lot of these came in the mail, packages I’ve been eagerly waiting for, mostly payments for design shop work. Some I bought because I couldn’t resist, like Belzhar (because it was signed and it sounded like a really good book!) and Blood of Olympus (because I NEEDED TO READ IT ASAP!) and some for events, specifically A Thousand Pieces Of You and Asylum for the Gray/Roux signing. Aside from all these new addition to my bookshelves, I also got some new books on my e-reader recently:

The 52nd by Dela
Fall Like Rain by Ana Tejano
Come Back To Texas by K.K. Hendin

AHHHH so many awesome new reads!!! Infinite thanks to these lovely people who sent me books- Amy of Tripping Over Books, Jessica of Read My Breath Away, Topaz Winters, Maricar of Black Plume, Genissa of Story Diary, Dela, Pinoy Book Tours and Xpresso Book Tours!

Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned? Which books did you get recently?

  1. Looks like an awesome stack of books :) I haven’t read any of them, but I have heard many good things about them!

One book in your stack, Belzhar, I have coming in the mail! Actually, I *think* it is going to be on the box today! I am also going to head to the bookstore in a couple of hours, too. Not sure what I am going to grab, but I have a 25% off coupon that NEEDS to be used :)

  2. Great choices! Isla & Belzhar are really good, I really want to read anatomy of a misfit & I’ll give you the sun, and perks of being a wallflower is one of my all time favourites. Enjoy!

  3. Wow! That is a pretty epic book haul! I’m super jealous of those copies of Blood of Olympus and A Thousand Pieces of You.

I think it’s cool that you let people pay with books. I’m considering doing custom orders in exchange for books (along with the Etsy shop I’m planning on opening soon), but I’m really hesitant because of the Kathleen Hale incident. Do you have a P.O. box or do people send books to your home?

(Sidenote: CommentLuv doesn’t seem to be working for me on your site.)

  4. You are so right. This really is a stack of awesome! I can’t wait to see what you think of so many of these – in particular, More Than This (I was gifted a beautiful hardcover for my birthday in April, and I haven’t even picked it up. :( ), Asylum, Mary: The Summoning, Trial by Fire (I was lucky enough to receive a review copy of this one, and I enjoyed it a lot. I want to buy the US edition though, because I’m in love with the cover. I seem to be the only one though…), The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Isla and the Happily Ever After, A Thousand Pieces of You (I have a review copy, so hopefully I can read it this week.), The Dream Thieves, Zac & Mia and I’ll Give You the Sun. :D

    1. Lucky you for getting the hardback of More Than This! The paperback copy doesn’t have the cute peekaboo cutout thing. :( Will def do blog post on what I think about most of these when I get to read them. :D Thanks for dropping by, Ebony!

  5. What a haul! And, um, is that The Dream Thieves because I think that’s what you should be reading right now (hahaha I kid…but seriously :P) I super curious about how you’ll take A Thousand Pieces of You. It’s been plaguing me for a while…I hope you have a good upcoming week! x

    1. I know! But I don’t have BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE yet :((((( I’m so excited for A Thousand Pieces Of You though! The premise sounds so good! Will keep in mind to do a review once I’ve read it! :) Hope you have a good week too, Jess!

  6. Oh my days, More Than This will not disappoint! It’s clever, freaky, and the ending may leave you unsatisfied, but you’ll probably feel pretty alright about it anyhow because its awesomeness WILL possess you. And that’s a good thing. Probably.

Jandy Nelson is a great writer (I’m a fan of her The Sky is Everywhere) and I can’t wait to get my hands on I’ll Give You the Sun (and the new edition for The Sky is Everywhere which is mad considering I already own a copy!)
And my oh my those books are pretty! (Plus I see what you did there in the book haul pic, dark on one side, light on the other…so very chic.
Hope you have a great week of reading!

  7. Yay, new books! What an awesome haul–there are a whole bunch here that I want to read (More Than This, Pointe, The Blood of Olympus, A Thousand Pieces of You, Isla and the Happily Ever After, Zac & Mia, and I’ll Give You the Sun) as well as some that I’ve already read (The Dream Thieves! The Perks of Being a Wallflower!). And yay for Belzhar! I just got a signed copy, too, at a book festival I went to this past weekend, and I’m looking forward to reading it. I hear it’s mostly contemporary with a magical realism twist, and it sounds good–fingers crossed we both like it!

  8. I WANT TO BORROW THEM ALL *weeps* And how did you get a signed Isla? I’m just jealously looking at everything because so many of them are in hardcover! Especially Wildflower; that book has been on my wishlist in forever because the title was done by one of my favorite letterers. I swear, I’m never going to save any money because books and art supplies and everything! UGH. *looks at your haul and sighs*

    1. If you really want to borrow, just let me know! We can always meet up at the upcoming signings. :) I got a fellow book blogger to grab me a signed copy of Isla at NBS! That’s so cool about Wildflower + your favourite letterer! I guess we’re the same when it comes to saving money haha. :D

  9. as usual you have an amazing book haul…i want I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN…because i think Jandy Nelson is a great writer…and i love her The Sky Is Everywhere :)

and i want ISla and the Happy Ever After as well but waiting for PB really…
