Quote Book: Mara Dyer Series

I’ve been wanting to launch this new feature/series for awhile. You see- I love quotes because they’re beautiful pieces of writing. I seriously have a quote book where I jot my favourites lines from books down. I often love to share them too, as I do when I review books. Also, I really enjoy making quote posters, like the ones I did before for Gayle Forman’s books because I get to incorporate my love for design and typography then. So compiling a quote book here on the blog came to mind and voila.

As you guys may or may not know, I’m meeting Michelle Hodkin tomorrow! She’s coming to visit Manila for a book signing tour (more details here) so I’ve been amping myself up for the event by rereading her books. And of course, I fell in love with the same quotes all over again. So I made these:

jetaime noah shaw

“Je t’aime. Aujourd’hui. Ce soir. Demain. Pour toujours.”

– Michelle Hodkin, The Retribution of Mara Dyer

thousand years noah shaw

“If I were to live a thousand years, I would belong to you for all of them.”

– Michelle Hodkin, The Evolution of Mara Dyer

Prettiness overload, I know. Far from the feel of the books (which are crazy messed-up and mind-blowing in the best way), but since these quotes were particularly romantic, I thought they’d go okay with the florals. I hope y’all like them!

Many thanks to Creative Market for my design resources:

Do you love collecting quotes too? Have you read the Mara Dyer series? What are your favourite quotes from the book?

  1. Aaaah I want to buy all the stuff too! I don’t think I enjoy the Mara Dyer series, but some quotes are definitely worth taking down and remembering. If only the plot was as good.

  2. I often come across beautiful and striking quotes in a book, but I don’t really write them in a notebook. I probably should so I can remember them. That second quote is so beautiful. I think one of my strongest goals as a writer is definitely to write beautiful one liners that readers love to quote.

  3. Noah bein’ fancy. xD

I’ve only read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, and well, it wasn’t as great as I was expecting it to be. It was interesting for sure, but the romance kind of killed it. I’ve heard that the sequels are a lot better, though! But regardless, LOOK AT THE PRETTIES!!! Hoping you have loads of fun at the signing tomorrow, Hazel! :D

  4. I also have a quote book! Although I often forget to jot down some of my favourite quotes from the book I’m reading when I’m reading it, I like to go through the goodreads quotes from that book and jot them down from there. I often find that there are a lot of beautiful quotes that I miss or just didn’t register when I was first reading the book so it’s like a little surprise hahaha.

The quotes in this post are gorgeous. I haven’t read the Mara Dyer trilogy but it sounds so haunting and beautiful so I’m really hoping to pick it up soon.

  5. love the quote…i hope u don’t mind if i have your designs printed out for my own personal use and also as an addition to my growing collection of bookmarks. i am sad tho that i won’t be there coz i’m not from MNL but my books will be signed thru a good friend of mine there. I am also excited for you. Looking forward to your recap for the said event :)

  6. I haven’t read any of the books in this series, but these quotes are beautiful! They really make me want to read them.

  7. Aah, these are so lovely, Hazel! I absolutely love the look of watercolors and the floral designs and the calligraphy. :) I read the first Mara Dyer book YEARS ago and never finished the series, but when it comes to the quotes it doesn’t really matter whether I’ve read it or not–like you said, a good quote is a beautiful piece of writing, and you don’t always need the context of a book to appreciate them! I think I’ll enjoy this feature, haha, and I’ll look forward to seeing more of your typography in future posts. :) (By the way, did you get a chance to show these to Michelle Hodkin when you met her?)

  8. I always write in my book journal (if not, I add my thoughts in the notes section of my phone and transfer it to paper when I have time!) and quotes are my most favorite thing to look back on. I haven’t read The Mara Dyer trilogy yet, but I’ll be starting it some time soon, hopefully … :)

  9. omg. This is so beautiful. I’m in love with this idea. And the second quote, I forgot how much these book make my heart ache. I recently just checked out the third book but haven’t been able to force myself to read it yet. Thank you for the boost in want :D
